British Professor transitions into becoming excellent leader

One 39-year-old professor from England had landed a professorship in a major US University, because of his excellent reputation as a lecturer. However, he soon discovered that he was placed in charge of a project team to carry out research for a US Government grant. He had not expected nor had he wanted to manage others, especially graduate and undergraduate students, and he began to fail miserably in the project. Not only did his management style (or lack of it) repulse the students from joining his team, but also he couldn’t get along with the few team members who stayed.
