Psi Bands
Chicago, IL - June 25, NAWBO's 2009 Women's Business Conference -2009 Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE: WFC) and the National Association of Women Business Owners® (NAWBO®) recognized three women-owned businesses with the 8th annual NAWBO/Wells Fargo Trailblazer Award. Each winner will receive a $5,000 cash prize.
The Trailblazer award is part of Wells Fargo's Women Business Services program. Established in 1995, the program uses outreach and education to help women business owners increase their access to capital and other financial services. The winners were selected from a nationwide pool of applicants and evaluated on their companies' business performance, innovation, growth, and service to the community.
One of this year's winners is:
Pacific Grove, Calif. based Psi Bands develops, manufactures and sells stylish acupressure wrist bands for the relief of nausea due to morning sickness (pregnancy), motion sickness/travel, chemotherapy, and anesthesia. Since launching in October 2007, Psi Bands are now carried by multiple nationwide retail chains and online stores. A portion of the company's proceeds support Fertile Hope, a nonprofit organization that provides reproductive information and support to cancer patients whose medical treatments may cause infertility. Owners Romy Taormina and Carla Falcone were honored.

I have some great news. I just signed last night my first seven figure contract with distributors in Japan, so it is now guaranteed that I am going to hit the Million Dollar group of M3 racers. The contract that was signed last night was for $2.165 million over 2.5 years with a guaranteed $320k for 2009. And I am just awaiting signatures on another contract with a distributor in South Korea which is for $550k through the end of 2010 and one more contract with a distributor in Russia which is valued at $1.2 million for 2009. As soon as I receive signed contracts on those deals I will email you.
I cannot believe what a difference a year makes. In April of 2008, there was the chance that I was going to lose everything with the split from my business partner, and I had to make the decision about whether to go back to corporate America or hit the reset button on my business. With sales this year already at $230,000 even without these international deals, I now know that I have made the right decision to fight for the "Cor" brand and keep on keeping on! My Coach Connection Coach has been a huge part of helping me put the past in the past and just focus on the positive, future growth of my business and my life and for that I am so grateful that I discovered your respective organizations when I did - both Count Me In and The Coach Connection. Denise Houseberg, a client of The Coach Connection (TCC) and President of MarketExpo.com an online storefront for home and garden manufacturers, received a special national acknowledgment from OPEN from American Express and Count Me In for Women’s Economic Independence as the first Make Mine a $Million Business Program Award Recipient to surpass $1 million in revenues, on December 6, 2005. Denise of Frisco, Texas was a Make Mine a $million Business award recipient at the Dallas conference in April 2005.
Denise Houseberg has helped small companies expand and become more profitable for the past 25 years. After training as a graphic designer, in 1986 she bartered her way into business and launched her first graphic design company on borrowed equipment. Her mid-western roots and spunky attitude carried her through the first lean years when no job was too small or too menial, but she eventually built MX Group, a well-respected graphics company that had a large base of loyal customers.
Not one to rest on her laurels, Denise launched MarketExpo.com in 1999 at about the same time as other fledgling E-tailers, such as Amazon.com. A problem-solver by nature, she initially built an online store to help a graphics client. Like most manufacturers, Jackson Deerfield Manufacturing Corp. offered a large line of decorative wall plates, but limited shelf space in the traditional retail store prohibited any one store from carrying the entire line. To resolve the age-old dilemma of satisfying consumer demand without selling directly to consumers, Denise came up with MarketExpo.com as a way to give consumers access to Jackson Deerfield’s entire line of products without jeopardizing their relationship with brick-and-mortar retailers.
